Chloroceryle aenea

While preparing for the start of our “Chicken Run” that starts tomorrow I was looking through a few photos on my computer that I didn’t get a chance to post from previous trips. This American Pygmy Kingfisher was taken back in March during our Costa Rica trip. We actually had several chances to photograph this species during the trip but this was our first for the trip and a life bird for at least one in our group. Even though I have seen them many times in the past I am still impressed by how small they are.
