Platalea ajaja
One of the birds that got me interested in bird photography was the Roseate Spoonbill. Southeast Texas is a fantastic place to see them and I have taken people from all over the world out to photograph their pink beauty. We are so fortunate to have Houston Audubon’s High Island sanctuaries where they can be observed at their nests in the spring. In my opinion it is worth coming to Texas just for this. This individual was on the west end of Galveston Island last week bringing a splash of color to a rainy day.
