Ramphocelus sanguinolentus

How can you not love a striking red and black bird like this Crimson-collared Tanager? I felt fortunate to get such a curious pose of this one during our October Costa Rica trip. It was hanging around with what was presumably its mate in a patch of second-growth forest that I am told just was a clear-cut pasture just a few years ago.
