Lepidocolaptes souleyetii
I have always been a fan of woodcreepers so I was naturally excited when we spotted this Streak-headed Woodcreeper during our October Costa Rica trip. It was foraging on the tree trucks and large branches in the yard of a house next to a river. The bird was using its long beak to dig around in the bark to pull out insects and never remained in one spot for long. We had to be quick to get photos.
