Maintaining weight and levels of fitness was required throughout the Army. Students didn't graduate unless they met those requirements. I ran regularly with my students, both for my own fitness needs and so that I could gauge how they were doing. Okay, I may have gotten into running a bit more than was good for me.

Actually, the model skeleton from my classroom, dressed in my running gear here, led a far more interesting life than I did. It would periodically go missing and then turn up dressed in scrubs, a uniform, a dress, or on one occasion at a student Halloween party, rather sheer lingerie (they wouldn't tell me whose).
