Further modifications were made including the 3/8" ply storage box, lighter duty axle (~1000 lbs load rating), addition of forward and aft beam bunks for dismantled mode trailering and central stiffening beam of 3"x3"x1/4" alloy running from the hitch coupler all the way to the rear cross member. This beam is also fixed to the axle beam via a couple of tie plates. This greatly increases the stiffness of the whole trailer. Light duty axle handles the load much better, absorbs bumps more smoothly than the original 2000 lbs load rated axle.
