PRESIDENTIAL LIMOUSINE

November '71. When we got this vehicle from Ford it was a complete car except that there was no sheetmetal from the firewall back, just an armor steel box. There was no interior either. We had to hang all the sheetmetal, fit all the trim and fabricate numerous exterior components. Everything on the interior had to be built, including the jump seats, AC ducting, compartments for the electronic and communications gear and everything else from the lighting to the door panels.

FROM WIKIPEDIA:
In 1974, Ford supplied a 1972 Continental model which was stretched to 22 ft (7 m), outfitted with armor plating, bullet resistant glass and powered by a 460 in³ (7.5 l) V8 engine mated to a C-6 3 speed automatic transmission. This limousine was used by Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan, and is on display at the Henry Ford Museum. This model was also altered a number of times during its history, including a replacement of front end piece to update it to a 1978 grill. This was the limousine that Reagan was about to enter during his assassination attempt in 1981.
