Kharakhorum

Kharakhorum, in Central Mongolia west of Ulaanbaatar, was the capital of Mongolia during the reign of Chinggis Khaan. Now, the city is home to the remnants of the Khaan's capital, as well as the fabulous Erdene Zuu Buddhist Monestary.
