An old rule of the woods is when you are in a wildlife situation, always have someone older and slower with you, therefore you can get the award winning photograph. This works well with cougars, bear, and rutting elk to mention a few. It also works when you are photographing otters. The problem here is that I am now that person, i.e., older and slower. So when this otter realized it may have been too far from a safe haven there was no one else to take the brunt of the charge. Result:shoot and run
