Robin's Nest

I thought the Robins were done for the season, but apparently not! :) Now since our bottom deck is higher, I am able to get very close to the nest which is nestled behind the lattice.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
1/25s f/5.0 at 100.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

What beautiful eggs Jano and I love that little blue strand too! Keep us updated on the babies and take lots of picys! :-) CJ

Thanks for commenting :) Update: The eggs have hatched (just today I'm thinking) and I'm hoping to get some shots of the babies... how fun :) of course, I will be careful to not disturb the nest jano

I get the same birds back every year to recycle the nest they built on my deck. Mine are Robins too. Robin's egg blue is perfectly on display here. -COAmature

Yes, the blue piece of ribbon is a nice touch. Looks like a shoestring in the rear. Birds will use some of the strangest things in making their nests. That's where those old audio tapes ended up that you used to see on the side of the road.

Thanks MaryAnne - i opened up my original and it was a little more blue than the orig...so I did a color match and this is the blue captured. What I thought was really funny is how the robin decided to color coordinate her nest with bits of paper :) Thanks for commenting and the suggestion. jano

How lucky of you to get such a closeup view. Might the blue be a bit oversaturated? Or did you set the WB for shade, which gives a warmer hue? I just think of those eggs as being somewhat paler. BTW how do you like that lens? I've been thinking of getting one.
