Thanks Penny dear:-) I try to save wear & tear on me shutter by not using machine gun mode so I've had to learn how to count in nano seconds. Mind you when I'm counting in nano seconds I sound like a chipmunk:-)

nano seconds...that's all it takes. this is wonderful

Great exercise in asserting the flatness of the picture plane... mixed with a mind-bending bird. Amazing capture. -tv

If you were asked to take a picture such as this I wonder how many months of staking out telegraph poles it would have taken.

Thanks Suey, Brent & Kurt:-) I used the servo focus for the first time & it seemed to work fine even though I couldn't tell if it was working until seeing the picys on the puter. It doesn't beep or light the focus points as I was following the birds. I don't know if all focus points work or just the centre one. I don't fancy reading the manual again as I had to look up how to set second curtain sync. Gawd who reads the manual:-)

My guess would be it is landing on the wire? I'm thinking that IS on your lens help keep the subject so sharp.
