By all means use an effect to make a picy better but wot so many people do is use an effect on every picy & all their picys take on the same look. Lonnit & Konstantin do it a lot & it spoils any different moods their picys may create.

I usually don't use it but the dynamic rage was too great and she was under exposed so when editing this noise cropped in and I had to use NI to get rid of it. I actually really like the effect on this picture! :-D CJ

Ah Neat image a or maybe it's shadows & highlights, why don't you just sharpen in Eliments as this skin smoothing doesn't look right to me. It might suit a particular shot but it will give your picys all the same flavour.

Thanks Mary Anne and Penny. I'm not sure I remember exactly the editing I did on this but since I only have PS Elements, it wasn't anything special, probably: levels, highlights/shadows, contrast, and some Neat Image to sharpen, which also smooths the skin a bit. I took this in Zihuatanejo while having a beer at a local drinking spot. This young mother came around trying to sell some trinkets to earn a little money and I asked if I could take her picture for a few dollars. This is one of my favorite pictures from our vacation and I'm glad you both like it! :-) CJ

The skin is beautiful - the little girl looks almost like a doll!! Very nicely captured! Penny Street

CJ, how did you get the effect of the silky smoothness in their face and eyes? I really like it.
