Spiffied up by Mom

“Native Trails” is presented by the Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts amphitheater three days a week every spring from January through March. The Center comes alive with Native American music, dance and art presented by Native Americans from the Yavapai, Navajo, Hopi, Pima, Apache and Sioux tribes. Traditional instruments such as flutes, gourds and drums bring excitement and energy to a variety of dances ranging from Pima and inter-tribal pow wow dancing to world champion hoop dancing and the traditional round dance.

Penny & Rod,
I agree with both of your comments. I've never been a portrait shooter. I need much practice. My 24-70/2.8 lens would have been better than the 24-105 for a portrait shot, but the 24-105 with IS is a better candid walk-around lens. I did shoot full-body to show the entire costumes. When the little girl saw me, she scooted behind her mom and peeked around. I got that pic, too. It may have been a better entry. The entire "Native Trails" shoot is on my pBase gallery. I'm trying to catch up with all the wonderful CTF challenge ahrtiiiiiiiiists, Rod. I'm light-years behind.
Thanks for your interest.

True, the little girl looks as if she would be a perfect candidate for a portrait, but we would have missed the dress and all the colors. Thanks for sharing this, Denny.

Very interesting Danny & the colours are good mate but I think you need to get closer for portraits & less of a snapshot look. That's if you want to become an ahrtiiiiiiiiist like us lot:-)
