Chicken head and butterfly

San Francisco Bay to Breakers

using a fisheye and two 580ex speedlites to make a ring flash. One 580 is on the hot shoe, the other on the tripod mount

This combo lights people head to toe, even with a working distance of only a few feet

I shoot indoors with this setup all the time. I haven't tried bouncing off the ceiling and using the bottom flash direct, you would have to turn down the intesity. Sometimes I use a diffuser on the bottom flash, with ettl this is an easier way to ratio the flashes, rather than playing with flash settings. The dual flash works best with close working distances.

How well would this flash set up work inside et? I was wondering if the top flash was bounced off the ceiling & the bottom flash either directed at the subject or bounced off a wall, have you done any inside?

Thanks for the nice feedback. The second flash is mounted to the tripod mount on the camera, so both are on camera flashes. Manuvering with a tripod in this thick drunken crowd would be impossible! I was just holding the camera above my head, it doesn't take much elevation to change the perspective with a fisheye.

Very nice use of flash! How tall is the tripod which has the other 580... also are you standing on a ladder? You got a great angle looking down.

I don't think I can remember seeing any flash picys done this well at such a wide angle. Your set up must qualify as being really creative mate. Three excellent very wide angle flash shots, well done.
