Evening Jam

I should point out that this was shot in almost complete darkness. I used the timer on my 400D (flash did not fire) and with help from my son fired a flash from my S2IS just in front and above me. I'll put his shot which was taken within my 2 second shutter in pending.

I think I need a slave like yours if I'm ever going to get a picture in this gallery! This turned out well with the S2 flash - very creative thinking! :-) CJ

Nice technique to capture this shot. The low light sets the mood very well. It gives an impression of a moon lit night.

There's some excellent Lcd monitors but they have to have the S panel like the Apple cinema display. Lonnit got one from Dell that had an S panel. Apparently only S panels can display picys as good as Crts, especially high Res Crts. What calibration software did you get?

Thanks Penny and Rod. Another interesting discussion, LCD vs. CRT. Hands down I prefer my color calibrated LCD over my calibrated CRT. The colors are more true and my prints are always what I expect. Viewing this again on my CRT though I do see your point Rod. The original I posted was SOOC save for a little head glare problem that sometimes stalks guys like me. I bumped up the brightness with some selective dodge and burn to hopefully accomidate all viewing monitors. I wanted to maintain the illusion of being lit by a small porch light though so the altercations are minor. -Doug

Good idea Doug, on my crt monitor this is too flat looking & dark, I think there may be a fine line between wot looks underexposed & wot is low key.I've just had a look on Mereanas lap top Lcd screen & I can see more in this picy as the generic Lcds miss out tones which makes the picy stand out more. Being stuck at home wiv a virus I'm fiddling wiv everyone's picys & stuck wot I did to yours in Pending. I like the how they look on both screens but I may be missing the feel you have in mind.
