With Flash (and it's my very first time ever using flash so I don't really know how creative this is!)

Very nice Penny! This is my fav of the dogwood pictures. The flash worked well to isolate the flowers in front with a fall off of the light below and in the background. :-) CJ

I like the way the flash isolated the blossoms from the tree, leaving an unattached cascade of flowers. -tv

Please let me know what you think. I added a little curves and it seems, to me, to be a little more interesting.

Pretty nice and interesting. I like dogwoods in all shapes and forms, so I might be a little biased. Good that you are learning :-)

Rod - thanks. I have used the curves tool some, and tried a little with this one but was afraid of bleaching the whites too much. It definitely looks better with a bit more contrast as you showed me. I also like the black and white version (hadn't thought of that). I will play with these myself and make a decision soon (may not be tomorrow because of mother's day). Thanks for the help.

I have yet to truely embrace the flash myself. In your shot here it works well to disolve the background into darkness and force focus on the white pedals. -COAmature

You did really well & got the potential for a good picy here, well done. I had a play wiv it to add a bit more "Pop" & stuck them in Pending.
