I totally understand that. ~Lydia

Nothing, but i don't think the camera adds anything to most self portraits either. Just my 2p
~mcbit :)

The camera is part of 'who I am'... it's with me very much of my time. So, its presence in a self-portrait photo of me is telling a story, so to speak. A flash spot, in my opinion, would detract.
Since you asked... that's what I think. What do you think a flash spot would add? ~Lydia

Other than the simplicity of taking the photograph what is the purpose of the camera in a self portrait? So why not the flash too, certainly for this topic. ~mcbit

Yeah... I thought about that, Cat... but really, does anyone want to see a flash spot in a regular photo? And are we trying to progress in our photography skills? I just can't bring myself to put a flash glare spot in a photo.

Good golly! I sound like Lonnit! *Grin*

She's my hero.. but I never thought I'd say something that sounded like her... ~Lydia

Well done, but wouldn't it be a stronger challenge entry if you could also see the flash go off.

Nice portrait!!! Good to see you again! The PP is cool! Looks like a pencil drawing to me :-)

Thank you, Angioman. LOL @ Penny. Oh... come on! If I can do it, you can. :) ~Lydia

it's going to be a long long time until I attempt something like this (and post it) - very nice!

Very nice photograph Lydia! I agree with CoAm- the direction of your gaze really makes this shot work.- angioman

I used the 580EX flash on top of the camera, Debi... shooting it just above the mirror.
Thanks Doug and Tom! ! ~Lydia
ctfchallenge10-May-2008 04:52
But did you use this flash (unlikely) or an external flash? - Debi

Lydia your turning gritty and real. Nice to see some unvarnished, intensely "focused" bw and down to earth, unselfconscious self-portraiture. Very well done. -tv

What works well for me in this is the fact that neither you nor the barrel of your Canon are looking right at us but intstead both are fixed togther on the same location over my left shoulder. It gives it a candid look. -COAmature

It's Friday, so Rod must be drinking ;)
ctfchallenge10-May-2008 01:31
Thank you, Rod. Tell Mereana that I said you don't have to cook for the weekend! ~Lydia
Rod 10-May-2008 00:43
I don't know wot Aamm means as this is one of the most natural looking mirror picys I've seen.
ctfchallenge10-May-2008 00:37
I disagree, aam. I don't think it was the PP that ruined it. I think it was the photographer.
*sigh*
~Lydia
aam1234 10-May-2008 00:27
You know me by now, sis Lydia, right. Honestly, and as cute as you look, this is not a good photo, if you ask me. The PP ruined it.
ctfchallenge10-May-2008 00:10
Thank you, JV. Yes, I used all colors. This is as good as I look. Sorry. *rolleyes*
*grin*

Yes, Rod. Even better... if you can stand it. *grin* ~Lydia

The one thing that annoys me wiv mirror picys is the back to front writing. Would you still look as luvely if you flipped this?
ctfchallenge09-May-2008 22:59
Looks good lydia. Did you do use all the color channels for the BW conversion? Either way, I like it. The slightly off-axis look and the BW add to the serious mood of this. - J.V.
