Water Drop

This was lit with the built-in flash on the XTi. I got the black background by taking the picture in front of a open window at night time.

Good one. And thanks for the explanation. I suspect we'll be seeing more stop-action shots with dark backgrounds.

Thanks Cat. One thing about flash is that shutter speed doesn't matter. The burst of light is in the 1/10000th to 1/1000th range so anything lit with the flash will be frozen. If you mix flash with ambient light, the shutter speed only effects the exposure of the stuff lit with ambient. - J.V.

Nice! and well done! I am surprised that you are able to freeze this at 1/200th. I would have expected it to need faster shutter speed.

Thanks you three. Julie, the water was in a glass bowl filled up all the way. All the splashing made a big mess. - J.V.

It's funny I can look at lots of sunset picys & lots of flower picys but these water drop picys have no interest once you've seen one. I must admit that the B&W & black background makes this one good enough to look at a. Well done JV.

This is great jv. What did you use to contain the water, so as not to make it visible? Julie
