I liked the look of the steam/mist too Charlie - thanks! Penny, I don't think there is any way to eliminate this traffic problem in Yellowstone, but it's nice to know the herds of buffalo have increased since they were almost wiped out in the late 1800's by hide hunters. CJ

The long lines of traffic in Yellowstone when we were there were almost always caused by a scene such as this one. You got a great shot - too bad others are not patiently finding a way to occupy their waiting time as you did. I have such mixed feelings about what to do to solve this.

I love the color contrast and the mists. They seem to add to the drama of the shot.

Thanks Julie and Brent! And here's our dog Brent - He's a 125lb Great Pyrenees/Husky mix. And a belated Happy Easter to everyone! :-D CJ

Great image CJ, and it works perfectly for the topic. I don't think we've ever seen your dog have we?

Thanks Mikey, Abs and Aam! Isn't it ironic that roads built for cars to help us drive through Yellowstone to see animals in their natural environment, alters their behavior so that they use the roads instead of walking through the forest or fields. In the winter they use the snowmobile trails.......and so do the wolves! :-) Out of this frame is a long line of cars waiting for them to move on. They gave us the evil eye when our dog whined quietly and we thought our pickup was going to be rammed! :-) CJ
Aam, the mist is steam from the geysers and mud pots in the area.

Love the mist.

i remember when we were going on a climbing trip at Needles in south dakota, some bisons were roaming on the road and had stopped the traffic. as it was late summer (their mating season, so easily provoked), some local climbers mentioned to maintain the distance (while photographing) and simply wait for them to pass by. -Abstract

Those aren't supposed to be there, ha! Nice catch, CJ. Where did you take this? It looks Rocky Mountainish. Cheers, -mikey
