Suddenly my PowerShot feels very inferior...I don't have the heart to tell it that even if it was a 40D I couldn't make it do this.

Thanks Penny. I think the more I look at this one, the more I like the upward gaze. it seems to accent her eyes more than the standard straight-ahead look. - angioman

I like this better for the contrasty challenge. She is beautiful. And I like the fact that she is looking not straight on - adds to the effect.

CJ - I backed of the midtones because it really made the hair around her face look too gray against the blacker shadows. Hard to pull blacks out of this one - too much sun coming through the window despite a diffuser. -angioman

Better, maybe too much though? Now try moving the levels middle slider a bit to the right for more blacks? Hope you don't mind the suggestions! :-) CJ

In trying to keep with the theme, I clipped more on this version - angioman

Pay no attention to Rod, Angioman... that was his way of giving you a high compliment. You'll get used to him. *grin* A very good shot, indeed. I like the composition. It doesn't seem extremely high-contrasty to me... but perhaps I don't understand that concept as well as I thought I did. Oh Oh! I feel like I wandered into the the wrong bar and the music stopped:) Are 40D's allowed in CTF? (I just noticed all the powershots). Hope I can stay, seems like a creative and entertaining group!!

Bugger me I think Angio is going to cause us some problems wiv good picys like this. I wonder if we should shunt him off to the Cslr.................Maybe not, he would probably die of boredom:-)

Wreath is resting on a glass, just above her head. Didn't like her expression on the forward gaze shots - this gaze followed the direction of the sun (light source). Maybe next attempt on this composition I'll get lucky with both the gaze and expression:)

What a creative image Angio, although I wish she was looking into the camera, and a black background might make this look a little more high contrast.. Did you do this with the wreath on a glass coffee table or something? Her hair reminds me of the corona of the sun - very interesting effect :-D CJ
