For me, the crop provides an interesting diagonal line transitioning the black-white, almost from corner to corner. Turns the square a bit sideways and is paralleled by the sweep of her ponytail. - angioman

The final decision on the picy is the photographers so you get the credit Angio:-)
Just a little thing I don't think this crop works as well for me as you have tried to keep the picy towards square. The space from her right arm to the edge of the picy seems to make the picy less dynamic for me. But we must always remember our picys are our visions & we must end up with what we want not wot others think look better. Nicely done mate.

Brent, thanks but Rod gets the credit on the crop!

Welcome Angio, you are getting off to a great start with this one- the new crop looks great.

Thanks CJ. I must say, this "challenge" forum is a new concept for me but quite exciting. Unique opportunity to share and listen.

Good rework Angio! Nice balance between light and dark and the focus is directed toward that very expressive and lovely face! :-) CJ

Nicely done, Angio. This is a beautiful use of high contrast. The face is great and I love the hints of hands. Lovely! Cheers, -mikey

I'm rather a beginner here myself, and I'm not too used to this high contrasty stuff yet, but I like the face a lot and the way you've set the rest of the image draws the viewer into her expression. Nice. Penny Street

Rod, I went with your second crop - great suggestion. The off-center subject and clean break at the shoulder seems to clean up the pic. Thanks!

Welcome to the challenge Angio mate:-) I agree wiv Carole as the white window sill seems to compete wiv the luvely subject too much. I did a couple of crops of your picy & put them in Pending. I like the second crop as it turns it into a real picy for me:-) Very well done Angio & I luv the attitude of the girl it works great in this portrait.

Thanks for the feedback. I really dialed up the contrast for this challenge. I agree, the softer versions with more detail in the mids are more to my liking. Thought with window sill might add a little depth. My first challenge - lots of room for improvement!

This is REALLY high contrast - maybe a bit too much? Interesting portrait but I'd love to see this with a little more detail and maybe with a slight crop off the bottom as I'm not sure we need to see the table and it might keep the focus on her face. Lots of personality here - I like it! :-) CJ
