the blue sky really sets the rest of the colours off beautifully. Shame about the other picy but this makes for a more abstract shot and shapes...claire

I have posted here a new image of the mountain from the same batch but a different vantage point and sent the original post off to pending. I like the original better as just an image, but think this one is more about just the mountain and works better for the topic.

I think people are looking for parts in a picy, the aim of this challenge is for the part thereof to hit us in the eye when we first view the picy. I said before that a picy that looks sort of normal will have trouble being on topic. That's why I have doubts about this as I think a viewer will see a general scene rather than a part thereof picy. I think a vertical crop from top to bottom of this picy either side of the peak would look more part thereof to me. Not a skinny crop but a normal aspect picy as a vertical picy would come from the camera................I still haven't said this is off topic yet have I:-)

I think this is definitely a "part of" image of the mountain, esp. with the cloud obscuring more and more toward the right side. Beautiful!

IMO I think this is on topic?? I love the colors and the clouds' formation around the top of the mountain, having the mountain top only partly in view. jano

Thanks for your comments everyone. Yes, I hoped having most of the mountain obscured by clouds would work well for the topic, but maybe there is too much else going on here? This is uncropped, so maybe when I have some more time after work I will see if I can make it more about the obscured mountain- though I wonder if it will be much of a picy then.
Rod, if you want to send it over to pending for worry that it will confuse others feel free to do so- you're the boss mate :-)

Beautiful landscape shot Brent - love those clouds! If you had a closeup of the mountain top with the clouds, it would be even more of a "part" type picture but very nice as is! :-) CJ

with so much cloud it HAS to be "part of" a mountain? Great composition and colours....claire

Well, I see parts of a mountain plus see parts of trees. Why not on topic? Beautiful Image.

How come this is not just nature etc ? Lovely scene BTW Brent- Debi

I can see wot you have tried to do with the mountain but the scene is so general I don't get the part thereof feeling. Seeing part of the mountain above the clouds is just stopping me saying off topic.....................Yet, maybe later:-)

Fantastic landscape. I've tried numerous times to get clear shots of our rockies here in Colorado and end up with haze most every time. I'm not seeing this as on topic though. -COAmature

Definitely part of a mountain. And the best part, at that. I like this one, Brent.
