Thanks for the complements. There was actually a bigger buck a few yards from this one, but he kept staying in the bushes and wouldn't step into the light. I wasn't really going for max DOF. I just didn't want to be wide-open. This shot was handheld with the 70-300 IS, and I'm pretty happy with it.

The light and scape is beautiful! I like the deer in the foreground, beats any other foreground subject. You certainly managed to get excellent results out of 1/100 @ 160mm.

Very nice catch at 1/100. Going for the max DOF. We have driven very close to Palo Duro Canyon maybe 10 times in the last 28 years and we keep saying we have to go there. We have to go there ... John
