Land of the Giants 2

The Fens

Shot taken into sun, with an incorrect exposure creating silhouettes and a washed out mysteriousness. The horizon was centered to create a balance between the sky and the foreground. As the colour saturation was reduced by the incorrect exposure, the channel mixer was used to convert to monochrome in PSP9.

Canon PowerShot S3 IS

other sizes: small medium original auto

Qualified. The centered horizon is not working for me here, though. It makes the bottom of the image too heavy, creating imbalance in the image. I feel like these great structures are being crushed in by the bottom heaviness. They are giants, they need space to breathe! These windmills usually give a feeling of broad expanse of open land. Here, they feel cramped and overwhelmed. It divides the image into two separate images. The top image is interesting. The bottom is boring, lacking in detail. There's no reason to salvage the bottom, crop it off so the horizon is at the lower line of thirds, at least! Actually, I'd go way more than that and just leave a sliver of dark at the bottom of the frame. ~ Lonnit
