I guess, technically, breaking a rule b/c it's fun is a reason. However, more importantly, was it the right thing to do for the image? Can you really justify why it works? I don't think so. For me, the image doesn't work - well, not for the people; for the fire it adds heat and excitement and intensity, which I really do like, but the people just seem like user error. When I said to justify, I meant a technical justification, but I didn't specify that and I can't change rules midway. Sometimes, anyway, to do something b/c it's fun, or b/c it's there, is a sufficient enough reason. That doesn't mean though, that it makes for a good photograph. I'll agree that you're justified in blowing the highlights, but I don't agree that you were justified in motion-blurring the people. I would have liked a shutter speed slow enough to show the rapid fire movement, yet fast enough to freeze the people. You will be moved to exhibition, for the date, but, congratulations, you are qualified! ~ Lonnit
