The Supplicant

Ellsworth, Maine

May it please the Queen: Focus and fuziness frigged to smithereens!!

A decree went forth through all the land by the Queen challenging her faithful photographers to brazenly break a traditional photographic rule with gusto and so arose the first half of this diptych; “Ovum Erratum”. And her command was not limited to the creation of imagery; we were mightily charged with the wagging of our tongues to deploy a justification as to the use of said broken rule. This sorely vexed her servant for I knew that such a determination lay ultimately and solely within the subjective eye of Her Majesty alone. Therefore, my first defense of “Ovum Erratum” was not a defense at all, but rather a supplication on bended knee and thus contemporaneously sprang forth the above image, the second part of this diptych: “The Supplicant”.

In compliance and respect of the Queen's edict to break a photographic rule, the one making supplication was blatantly made out of focus, and fuzzy through the deliberate motion and genuflection.

Having only a blurry supplicant is insufficient; it still would need a context in which to be contrasted – something perhaps even competing with the subject supplicant – something clearly in focus and more meaningful.

The Queen hath laughed! With such a fine message, how could I dare put this in pending, where it will get fewer views? But, alas, with no attempt to explain, I cannot qualify the image. I temporarily granted pardon for the first, pending the request to add your explanation, knowing full well you were qualified to explain. You kissed loudly enough to have me restrain from the move to pending. Alas, by the second time - a mere cut-n-paste of the primary kissing of ass is insufficient to save this from pending. Tell us why it works and you're in. :) ~ Lonnit

John - ah, yes, but then the title would have been the "The Supplication" and still, ultimately this is not to be judged by one bound to our benevolent feudal lord, but only by the Queen Mother herself. Tis only our charge to try and please her which will naturally be pleasing to all serfs and the betterment of the kingdom - at least until this challenge is over. - Kelly

I don't think you can justify this fine image for this challenge. You put the main image in focus and onto the third thus making it even stronger. The out of focus is interesting but clearly not the intended message. If you made the out of focus the clear part and put the "stop the ..." in a slight blur the picture still works but it qualifies for this contest. John

Nice try Kelly & a great looking picy mate. But with your permission (hypothetically speaking):-) I have turned this into a definite vote getter. I can assure you it will win by the biggest margin ever recorded in CTF challenges:-)
