tricolor

no rule of thirds, too much empty space...but I think it
works since the converging lines still lead to the 'main' objects
and due to the colors - kind of abstract but not too much, imho :o)

Thanks all, but I think, I will never ever get the real understanding of this 3rds thingy...hm...limited manly mind only, don't expect too much :o)
obviously I do not know enough of the rules to break them in a good way, glad that at least the empty space part is ok :)

I'm glad you had a second rule because you did not break the rule of thirds! The pointed corner of the bottom of your glass clearly points to the upper right intersection of thirds! The dark area of the yellow glass exits at the lower thirds line. The highlight line in the red exits the frame at the upper line of thirds. Your bright yellow line exits the frame at the right line of thirds. I'll accept this image on the breaking of the empty space rule. Qualified. Thank you. ~ Lonnit

A great image, because of the light, which has become the subject. If you take the light away it wouldn't work!

I knew this was yours Doug just from the thumbnail. Your photos are impressions ... I would think that the short focal length always focused cameras would be hard to work with in your style. I am glad this is yellow and not white. :-) John
