majestic, and beautiful for sure - b.c.

Thanks for commenting, Charlie, Tom & John. You're right, John. If these were Aspens I may have had to take a different course. Black Forest (Monument, CO is at the West end of B.F.) is almost exclusively a mono-culture; all Pondos. Because the climate has warmed lately, we are experiencing an epidemic of Mountain Pine Beetle infestation. Deep cold is the only thing that really stops them ( 10 big Pondos to beetles. I just naturally thought the road curved to the left since the "illuminated" trees appear to do this. After taking another look, I see by the trunks that the road curved to the right. I agree that the effect is mysterious and makes you keep looking. Nice shot Mikey. I bet if these were all Aspens in the height of fall you would have had to thought twice about B&W versus Color. I like the contrast. Mikey, at first I thought this was surely an IR, then noticed the B&W distance. Good RAW conversioning (is that a word?)

The road and the trees are clearly leading the eye to the mountain. But the fact that the road disappears with no clear sense of its direction leaves the viewer to wonder how to get there. It's a nice effect, in that it makes you want to see more.

Thanks, Doug. A familiar mountain, indeed ":^) Cheers, -mikey

Thanks for the comments, Cat, Rod & Tommy. The trees are Ponderosa pines and that is a shadow cast by the trees behind me. I had planned to shoot this with the IR cam, but didn't grab it when I left the house this AM in my pre-coffee stupor. So, this is not an IR image; its a RAW conversion. Adobe Camera Raw v.4.2 (w/CS3) allows each color to be adjusted individually for luminescence, saturation and hue and when converting to B&W for brightness/intensity. I had the cam set to shoot in large JPG and B&W w/Red filter, but decided to use the RAW image to convert. Thanks again for the kind words, they are much appreciated. Cheers, -mikey

Are those flowering trees, Mikey? The leaves does look like infrared or did you use a green filter among other tricks? It's an impressive image. -tv

Nice one Mikey but why are the tree's only half IR or isit snow?
