Quite a jumble of bikes and racks Vincent - fits the challenge well. CJ

Thanks "tv" for your comments. I was trying, among the hustle and bustle of this particular busy street, to capture the handle bar of the blue bike at a diagonal. I wish that i could have a wee bit more "breathing room" on the left side, so the left brake lever could have a bit more space. Oh well, alas, too m any people shoving around...plus I had my dog on the leash as well. Multi-tasking ;)

I'm grateful that I did capture the diagonal that I had set out to do, so at least in terms of prioritizing, I got basically the shot that I wanted. My 2nd priority was to make the "bike rack" to look a bit less like a bike rack by looking for an angle that is not so obvious, i.e. from the head on side view, where one would instantly recognize it as a bike rack. So I was trying to hover over other people's bikes, probably raising suspicions on what the heck I was doing almost touching their bikes!! ;)

Here is where the small sensor cameras shine and why I continue to shoot with my S70 - incredible DOF, even as close as this shot is to the subject matter. The choice of angle and framing gets the viewer entangled in the clutter. The effect is confining and disorienting, where we cannot comprehend the "forest for the trees". The dof is essential to flatten the image. -tv
