I shot this for a CSLR Challenge on the topic of "spots."
But it fit the topic of "patterns" as well, and I have
had no time to contribute anything else.
So please the repetition, if you have seen this before.

Thanks for the comments. I understand that the “found” nature is subject to debate. I certainly did not create the pattern, so that is at least on topic. I first thought of this subject while eating a bowl of clam chowder, as I reached for the bag of crackers. Those crackers did not survive the lunch hour, and I took another cracker out of a bag when I got home. We’ll let the voters decide whether that disqualifies the image from consideration.

This was about as close as I could get with the 17-85. I have no extension tubes. I did have to crop a bit, to show more of the cracker and less of its background. The nature of the background is naturally irrelevant. I completely darkened it, including the background that could be seen through the holes, in order to emphasize the pattern made by the holes.

I like the depth in the holes and the break-off points on either side. I am going to look at my crackers up close next time.

This is one of those shots that makes an ordinary object look unusual. There are definitley patterns in this. I think it might be borderline on the "found" part of the challenge, since I'm assuming you removed this cracker from its natural habitat. Does the 17-85 get this close, or did you have to use extension tubes?
