Nicely done Lee. I have to say I can't help but want for a view of this in color- but side by side this may work just as well and possibly better if highlights were an issue here.

I have to say the color shot to me has more punch and more appeal. This seems non-dimensional to me in b&w. Given that..... wonderful image, well captured! Did I say it looked really awesome in color? :) jano

Lee, this is a terrific and memorable image. Why? Because it is ideally captured in B&W, which makes it rare, and because I find the combination of butterfly and sunflower very effective in their flat presentation (i.e. no superficial angles). It is also the balance you have achieved by capturing both well-focused. This allows their competition for attention which adds tension that makes the image quite vibrant. The grain works well too because it flattens the image and removes other competing elements such as contrast with the bg. Very nice work. -tv

It was more luck. I turned and he was there for two quick shots and flew away.

Nice catch. I'm never lucky enough to have a butterfly sit on a flower long enough to photograph him. Either that or I'm not patient enough to sit and wait. Guess I'll have to PS one on a flower. Looks great. -COAmature
