Just out of interest, why does the grainy treatment suit this subject matter, grain is highly anachronistic here in my view since images from the period ceratinly do not reveal too much grain. For images of war grain would be found more in work from the 1920s on using small formats.
Having said that bravo to the photographer for combining old & new Can(n)ons...and managing the shutter lag well enoufgh to catch some of the action too.
