Cheers, Brent.

I don't mind the square crop, as somehow I think of square crops and grain as being from a classic era- that's me anyway. Nice that you got that grain all in camera Aaam, well done.

Agree with you Techo. The shake adds mystery imo, and makes it kind of ghostly too :)

You sure made iso1600 noise look good. The grain looks really good and the tones are nice but would've liked to see something in focus. At 1/2 sec I see some blur. Maybe it adds to the mystery to shot in an abstract sort of way.

Sorry for the late reply, Gents.

Doug, you are almost right with the angle. For years I've been dying to shoot a straight down photo but the light (and its shadow) always tells that it's not 100% straight down. With the camera mounted horizontally on the tripod it still doesn't look straight down :(

About the grain. This is the real stuff not added in PS (it was shot at iso 1600 in low light)

Thank you Fred. Agree with you that it is busy.

I like this one and the square crop works well I think. Maybe a tad busy and no obvious fix point, but I'm not sure that matters very much in an image like this.
Cheers!
Fred

I'll tell you what I think it is. It looks like the picture is turned 90 degress clockwise. I think the grain is done masterfully just not sure about the underlying photography. Not to worry though. Aamm comes on early then strong. -COAmature

It doesn't matter wot it looks like Aamm cos we can cover it in grain:-)
aam1234 21-Jul-2007 02:45
It looks horrible, I tell you mate.
Rod 21-Jul-2007 00:59
A good idea for this topic Aamm but I'm not sure if it's just the composition or the square crop that's not quite working for me. Wot's the full frame look like?
