However you shot it, and whatever pp you did, it appears excellent. I'm not a poo poo on pp and am learning settings on my dslr myself... for me this is well done whatever way it was done. Good learning xp and it turned out wonderfully. jano

Right on every count . . . I was shooting low light shots before the sun came up and on the way home . . . well . . . I found these glasses and fired off a few shots without thinking about the settings. I was distracted -- more so than usual -- because I had to lay the camera on the ground and shoot without looking through the viewfinder. Ah well, I need to learn how think THINK about my settings next time.

I must admit I admire your computer skills Bruce, a silk purse from a sows ear indeed:-)
The other thing that puzzles me is your camera settings for a shot of this type, did you set them for this shot? I would have thought a 100 Iso not 400 Iso for a smoother look with more telephoto than 70mm to accentuate the mist by producing better bokeh (blur). I would also think a slower than 5000th sec shutter speed so as not to freeze any water movement. Your settings seem to indicate to me that you put more thought into the post processing than you did into creating a shot with the camera......................Mind you I've been wrong before.................I think it was in 1968:-)

Yeah, you never know what kinda deceit and hooliganism digital photographers will engage in. BTW, here is what the original looks like:

My fine example Tommy doesn't include creating a shot in PP only polishing what you get in the camera. If the background was kinda blotchy as Bruce said then the main mood of this shot wasn't created in camera but on the computer. At least most of Bruce's shots look like Photos & is hard to tell they were done on the computer but I'm not so sure about it all as it's too hard to get an impression of the standard of photography involved as shots like this can be got in camera but it takes time, dedication & ability. My comment below said I liked the graduation he caught from water to the mist obviously thinking I'm commenting on his photography but it was only a computer generated gaussian blur that even a parrot can do:-)

Bruce, thanks for the revelation. Frankly, your shots have the feel of fine expert film photography; so your example should be something for us all to follow in the digital world. Knowing that, the result is especially impressive - that's coming from one who has finally acknowledged the essential pp steps in publishing (thanks to Rod's coaching). I'm trying to become more accomplished, but it is truly a struggle - well worth the attempt from what I can see. Again, thanks for the fine example. -tv

Thanks guys. I dunno why I cropped in like this. Lately it seems, I have been cropping photos wide or square. The gradation was achieved by several layers of severe blurring. The background was originally kinda blotchy. -- Bruce

Question: Why the crop?

Very nice- especially the negative space. Gives a feeling of floating, but it's obviously grounded. Really well done.

Superb, well done Bruce.
Rod 11-Jul-2007 20:03
Yes this does look good the graduation to mist is really nice. How do you get the smoothness I'm seeing in some of your shots Bruce?

Great shot, Bruce!! Simple but so effective. I wonder if they're one of the many pairs of sunglasses I've left behind in various places.
