This is so soft and pretty. As far as neg space... I can't say that my interpretation of the topic matches. For me, the background really adds to the image and all...but the overall composition probably negates it as neg space. I'll consider it some more. But, what a beautiful image, really. jano

Very nice in every way. The shapes in the "negative space" do indeed enhance the subject. -tv

Using Lee's description this is on-topic as the background is soft enough and blurry enough to not detract from the pretty petal and raindrop so I say keep it here Mary Anne! CJ

Many thanks, Barry. I'm glad you like it.

It's perfect just like it is Mary Anne! Beautiful! The subject is clearly defined and the negative space compliments and enhances the subject. Well done IMO!

Thanks, COA. I tried cropping it differently and even cloning out some of the dark shapes in the background, but it just isn't the same shot without the curved petals in back. I'll move it to Pending if need be, but I can't bring myself to change the basic composition. As for your being "a self titled amateur"....aren't we all??

If my vote counts I say it's spot on. I feel that all elements not considered the subject are negative space. In this case the negative space enhances the subject quite well. Not sure my vote should count though as I am a self titled amatuer and I rarely know what I'm talking about. -COAmature

Aam and Rod, I also was uncertain if the background could really be considered negative space, although it does seem consistent with Lee's description. If he says it's off-topic, I'll be glad to remove it.

For a painter there's negative space aplenty here but for photography I agree wiv Aamm. But this does fit Lee's topic description of the background enhancing the focal point.
Very nice Mary Anne:-)

Not sure where's the negative space here either. Am I missing something :(
