Wildflowers in Crystal

West Springfield, Massachusetts

These New England Asters grow so commonly along roadsides and in fields that most people ignore them as "weeds." The pale purple blooms are less than 3/4 inch across, and you have to look closely to see their delicate beauty. By the way, they're sitting in an old wine glass, not a vase.

A nice subject for a picy Mary Anne but the petals are a bit bright & lose the subtle colours. With a background in shade & the subject sunlit I normally aim the camera at a sunlit area & lock the exposure & then shoot the subject. Another way is to expose as you have done here at 500s F8 & then set it on manual then try 500s F16 or 1000s F8 & so on.
