This version shows much more just how delicate this device is!

I've always had reasonable gear for listening to music but what surprises me is how all the musicians I know still enjoy listening to music with very low end gear. They don't seem to listen for the quality of sound they just tune into the music. The danger of listening through high end gear is we can get carried away with what it sounds like rather than just listening to music.

Then my comments are a reflection of the kind of gear I've always had, I guess. Definitely not high end. ;-) But I enjoy music nevertheless.

Well cared for records don't have scratchiness Mary Anne. On a good system the records do sound much more musical than the more clinical sound of CDs. On mid to low end gear the CDs sound better I reckon:-)

Despite the retro subject, the image has a nice hi-tech look to it. I've still got my old vinyl LPs but haven't listened to them in years. (And I have to admit to preferring the clarity of sound that CDs give, as I don't think that scratchiness enhances musical quality. But not being a music afficionado, that's all I have to say on the subject!)

Looks gorgeous (and enviable). Open reel tape was good too but didn't survive digital. Funny how convenience is overriding sound quality, even for me. I never find time to crank up the turntable any more.. but saving the vinyl until I can. (Being old has the advantage of years of collecting vinyl when it was available). -tv

Looking forward to the reshoot. I always love turntable shots!

Rod, agree with you on the DOF...will try and reshoot this.
Regarding vinyl sound...rediscovered music now, after years of listening to mp3s and cds.

I would like to see lot's of DOF so we can see the delicate arm mechanisms. Doesn't vinyl sound great? Better than CDs.
