It's a good point about the roof shingles but the barn belongs to my neighbors & they're so cheap I think I'll just leave them that way. ;)

You're both right. It was a gut decision - to make give the image a more abstract look as opposed to representational. Maybe it worked maybe it didn't. It's ultimately up to the viewer, isn't it? ;) ~gumby
I kind of like the high contrast and saturation...they seem to make the image more abstract.

Excellent use of texture and space. The diagonal really creates a battle between the circles of the wood and roof texture. Have you considered toning down the saturation a bit. I dont think the texture of the wood needs to be so strong- the shapes are sufficient.
