I didn't get around to commenting earlier Maurice, but this looks much better with the new work you have done on it. Very nice improvement on a great image.

I've renewed this image, tweaked levels and reduced noise!

Thanks CJ, that's a big improvement. I've downloaded 'Neat Image'. I will attempt to improve the noise and tweak the levels as allowed, and repost the image. Which should be a good improvement. Then I'll look for my next photo oppurtunity, unfortunately the weather is hampering any photography at the moment :(

Sound like you've been given the green light to PP away. Great looking entry as it stands but a little help from the noise ninja wouldn't hurt. -COAmature

Here's my attempt at PP for your image Maurice. Hope I didn't overdo it!

If I remember the steps I took, I think I adjusted levels, highlights/shadows, brightness/contrast and used the free version of "Neat Image" for noise reduction. PhotoShop "Elements" version 5, which is under $100, is a pretty good editing program with a lot of features similar to its big brother, CS2. I highly recommend it as an editing program. There are other free noise reduction programs to choose from but I've been happy with Neat Image. CJ

Thanks CJ, I would be interested to see. I tried to retake the pictures today using a tripod, I managed to get it sharp but there was not as much of a dramatic change between the shadows and highlights as the lighting was different! I'll try again tomorrow! Its the inner part of Hosta leaf!
I've tried to use paint shop pro, but it does not remove noise effectively!

Very interesting image Maurice and maybe this would look even more interesting with a little PP. Try playing with contrast, shadows/highlights, and some noise reduction. I tried it and will post my results in pending if you like. And what is this???? ;-) CJ

Thanks, there's no post processing or cropping, its straight from the camera, just resized. I will try again but adjusting the settings as it was fairly low light and it was hand held!

Great subject for an abstract Maurice but it looks a little flat. I don't know if adding some contrast will help because of the grain we can see. Is this a small crop from a larger picy?

Interesting soft texture. I like the light coming in from the right.
