2nd: As the wheel turns by Bill Warren

The objective was to isolate the left fork of the bicycle wheel with motion and lighting control. I used this approach as opposed to controlling depth of field. The bike is upside down and I spun the front wheel fast before shooting. The lighting setup is in a black space with an off camera, directional flash burst. I did additional light painting on the spokes and hub using 2 flashlights during the long exposure. The resulting circular black shadows are produced by the moving flashlights and spinning spokes. The image is minimally post processed.

What interests me is that the fork is clearly and sharply isolated and yet the lighting and blur activity draws the eye all over the image.

this image is like a blockbuster movie (with everything)...nice saturated color, beautiful composition w/ thirds rule, motion, high key aspect, abstractness, details/clarity of a macro, and above all awesome visualization and cocept. -Abstract

Yes, I must second all the praise. Well done on getting something that isolates in a different way.

Bill, kudos this is very very well done....
The lighting, colour treatment and everything there along with the intricate patterns and geometry draw my eye in.
