i like this version much better than the old one. it feels a bit over-exposed though. i see, Cat already mentioned the number of reflection. dont you wish you can control all the elements in your photos even while shooting outdoors/outside? i like the concept of this image nonetheless. -Abstract

That's an excellent chance to use it, evoic. Not only it will get rid of reflections but it will saturate the colors too. Would love to see the results, if you have a chance of course.

I actually have one that I just got less than 2 weeks ago but it's seen limited use since I'm still trying to learn when and where to use it.....

Another tip (which I learnt yesterday) is to use a CPL (Circular Polarizer). Though not sure it's available for non-dslr cameras.

Damn the overhead track lighting on dusty marbles..... : - )

Works well and on topic!! (*) A small tip on doing jewellery shots: Reduce the number of light sources. 1-2 is more than you need for photography. Now as a shop display (I am guessing where you shot this) its a whole different ball game. -Cat

I like this the best of the two shots evoic. Maybe just a bit of a crop on the right would make this off-centered enough. CJ

Well done, evoic.

Although I agree the white ball shouldn't be dead center, I like the look of this one better than your 2nd submission. The white ball stands out better and the white BG on the 2nd one pulls your eye back there. Good capture on this one. - Henry

I shot a few that were off center, so I went ahead an posted one of them - per the request.
There were also a couple shots of all white, with a solitary black - but most of them had artifacts from the flash and weren't exactly post-worthy. Thanks for your feedback, it's appreciated.

Evioc, What do you think of reshooting so the shiny ball is off center?
Rod 04-Mar-2007 19:24
Yes I agree RK.

Creative setup. Like the refelected light points. Good one evoic.
Rod...can see your point on breaking the pattern here. In my opinion, the physical pattern is not broken and the subject is isolated by color.

Now that's breaking a pattern & isolating the white one. Well done Evo.
