DOF is perfect here, with wonderful texture in the feathers. It certainly brightens our gray end-of-winter days.

Thanks Mark:-) Its a bit easier when the birds have some good tucker to eat so they stay still for a little bit.

Great scott I mean, great shot! :-) I have tried several times to capture lorikeets at the Lowry Park Zoo Lorikeet exhibit here in Tampa Fl and, none of my attempts come close to your great shot, Rod. Markjay

Excellent shot m8. Really like everything about it. Most unique about the shot is the composition which works really well. Good thinkin ;)

Abs, agree with you...DOF helps this picture...but its the rich and contrasting colors on the face that draws me in like a magnet. You got to nail the eye on a bird picture like this and the color of the eye is fabulous to top that.

DOF and psositiong in te frame work well. The colour and brightness of the eye and beak also help to draw one to the head of the bird.

who needs that evil-red-ring if you can get this result with regular lenses. excellent work, Rod. for the records, i see this one as isolated by dof. -Abstract

Great shot, Rod!! GAWD, these guys are beautiful! My second thought when I saw this pic was: .. "hummm, not that isolated". It'll get votes, for sure, tho (mine, anyway). Cheers, -mikey

Thanks Carole, RK & Aaamm:-) The missus made me post this shot as I wasn't so sure about isolation as much as others I short listed. Don't tell me she was right again:-)

You nailed the eye on this one. A great example of isolating by color.

What a beauty! I'd have a whole gallery devoted to these guys if they were in my backyard! Great color, DOF and composition to isolate the Lori. Nice one Rod! CJ
