The Fibonacci sequence*

The Fibonacci sequence or numbers is by definition a mathematical formulae.

But it's much more than that, it's a golden rule that manifests itself in nature.
Why are petals in 3, why do Pine cones have a certain arrangement, why are some shapes more pleasing to the eyes than others.
The formula shows that everything in nature follows a particular pattern or sequence.

The somewhat concentric circles in this flower reminded me of it.

But let me stop before I start talking about entropy and disorder.

Thanks for helping me learn something new today Chris- interesting stuff. I find this image very interesting and really don't mind my eyes being drawn to several places before settling on that aphid ;-) Lonnit's cropped image works well too, I guess I like it both ways.

Thanks so much for the feedback, i'm always eager for viewers thoughts whether good or bad.
Re the Fibo sequence it's really the patterns and spirals of the petals that reminded me of it, not the number of flowers in the frame.
Re the crop, you could certainly embed it in a comment here for me to see.

I think it's utterly hysterical how you were inspired by the Fibonacci sequence to take the picture, and then you only get two flowers in the frame! Before I read the blurb, the first thing that hit me was, "Two? Two is dull. This should have been three, for a more dynamic image." This is a very lackluster composition. I try to look at the center of the left flower, but am consistantly pulled to the right, where my eyes want to stay. I move them left - they pop right. The aphid? I try to look at that, but I get sucked into the dark area next to it. Because the whole image is high key, the low key areas become the focal points. The aphid is non-existant, where it should have been the main character in the story. If you're interested, I have a crop suggestion in which the eye goes right to the aphid and keeps snapping back to it. If you want to see it, just let me know if you would like it embedded here, in this thread, or merely link to it. If you're not interested, that's fine too. You're on the right track - there's a lot of good in this image; it's just the wrong crop. The colors are good. The DOF is nice, the high-key is lovely, the graininess adds class, and those itsy-bity little aphid legs are perfectly in focus! So, you did all the really tough stuff amazingly well. Just take it to the next level with the right crop, which shows off your technical skill instead of masking it! ~ Lonnit

Hehe, thanks for the feedback all.
The white fly is a type of sucking/piercing insect an aphid I think.
Definitely a pest of plants here...
