Thanks everyone. To answer your questions Mary Anne, the day I took these it was right around freezing outside. It's better a bit colder but doesn't have to be much. When it's colder they freeze faster and become more opaque. You can't pick them up. They are very fragile. When they break they leave a plastic wrap looking residue. They are really fun to play with. Definitely give it a try. Ann

I can't decide which one I like better. Can you pick them up once they're frozen? How cold does it have to be for this to happen? I may have to go out and buy some bubble stuff!

I think I may prefer this bubble picture for the brighter ice crystals - they look like flowers! CJ
