Ummm, I guess I didn't read those. As it is, you've got me commenting on my own picys, which is really weird (for me). Damn, the wine has run out. Off to the store for some more Lindemans. -- Bruce

Yes centre weighted picys are prone to be rather static that's the challenge of this challenge init, trying to get a shot which works & is centred is not very easy, why don't you give it some effort you might learn something:-). Are all the shots in this gallery static Bruce? The way the challenge is going we should forget about the words "centre weighted" as this implies somewhere near the centre which this shot is. But with Jano's comments on the focal points of other shots then close enough as this shot is it isn't on topic. So what is good for the Bruce is good for gander I reckon:-)

Truth be told, the "geographic" center of the image is somewhere between the rider's face, the horse's eye, and the bit. Yeah, I added a little bit of sky so that the center of the image dances between these three elements of interest. The reins help loop it around. Center weighted images -- in my humble opinion -- are prone to be rather static (my flower shot is a prime example). The eye is drawn to the center and then . . . nuthin; it just stops there. Bleah! -- Bruce

This a gorgeous photo, but I have no idea how to make it seem more center weighted. Maybe adding more grass at the bottom??

I don't know Jano, my eye is usually drawn to the brighter parts of a shot so the first thing I looked at here was the lovely rider's face, arm and leg and then at the horse - maybe that's just me though! CJ
PS: Rod, the image has to be center weighted, hence the tall shot!

Bugger the missus said I've had enough beer.........but she said I could have a Scotch & dry .......who am I to argue:-)
Rod 27-Jan-2007 08:28
One other thing before I get up for me 4th beer, this shot is too long & skinny..hic.......why do you do crops like this Bruce.....scuse:-)
Rod 27-Jan-2007 04:54
Jano you girls are driving me nuts:-) You have pinged Lonnit on the eyes of her shot not being centred in a literal sense & here the horses eye would be the same amount off centre as Lonnit's shot. It's lucky I'm old enough not to be confused:-)

Whew! Thanks Jano! By the way, I like a good fight in an image. -- Bruce

The focal point for me in the horse's eye and if my eye is drawn left or right, that's ok... This is perfect! Love the toning and comp. I must say, this is a competitor imo!!! jano
Rod 26-Jan-2007 22:49
There's a real fight here between the horses head & the rider as to which is the focal point, normally not a problem but for centre weighted it is:-)
You're quite welcome to talk to us Bruce as we would like to hear your opinion of our opinions:-)

I like this picture, especially the sky and the way it seems to fade in.

Love the toning in this Bruce! I see that the horse's head is centered and maybe if there was no rider, it would feel centered but now it seems more weighted on a thirds line.....or is it just me? I love it anyway though - wonderful sharpness and graduated sky! CJ
