Well done Abs we have another member of the chauvinist pigs club:-) Although he really tried to get out of joining:-)

Very nice creative shot Aam and Corum should use it in an ad! I like the tones in this and the shallow DOF really draws the eye to the center. If you wanted to play around with this theme, you could put the rocks on some nice sand (you can buy colored sand in a craft store), wet it all, and then carefully put the watch on the rocks, but with a nice watch like this, I'd think twice about it! Is there any way to deny the existance of girly/manly shot category and still agree with Rod about the shell idea? hahahahhaha :)
jokes apart, i think rocks give strong grounding feel to the shot and portray robustness of the watch. something that i am afraid will be lost with delicate sea-shells.
although a woman watch would be fine with sea-shells...ooops...i didnt say the woman-watch part ;) -Abstract

:)

Maybe a bit of water will be fine mate but adding silly sea shells will turn it into a girls shot:-)

Thank you RK, appreciate the comment.

Abs, I love your idea! sounds really good. To take your suggestion even further I was thinking of adding sea shells too, to emphasize the marine theme. But I'll be careful with water though :)

Cool Watch - RK

I like the concept and lighting of this shot very much. color of the watch, belt, rocks, background everything come together very well.
just to go further in the cocept, how about placing everything in water? Not completely submerged in water though. wet rocks half way through in water and may be a couple of drops of water on the watch itself. just a suggestion. -Abstract
btw a Corum...cooooool !!!

The setup is really simple, and that's the beauty of it. The flash was mounted on the camera and pointed upward with an angle to make sure the bounced light hits the scene. A CWB was used too. That's about it really.

This doesn't look at all like a flash shot Aammm, did you use a coloured filter or wrong for flash white balance? Also If this is a flash shot can you tell us how you positioned the flash?
Extra brownie points if it is mate:-)

Thank you very much guys for the kind comments.

As for the concept, Henry is right. The original thought was as Henry said but wasn't sure anybody would catch it. Besides the name (Admiral's Cup) the flags are marine flags too.

I'm really glad I got a flash, it's not scary/difficult to use at all. Highly recommended if you don't have one already. Thanks again guys.

The colours & clarity look really good & well composed. I think ole Aaamm has gone up to the next level, well done mate:-)
Brent 24-Jan-2007 06:30
Really nice color and detail here Aam. Very nice work.
Henry 24-Jan-2007 02:50
I love the color palette! My feeling is that it is symbolism for a "ship, washed up, on the rocks" (Admiral's Cup watch) Just a guess.

I really don't understand the concept or title for this shot aam, but it is a very nice sharp and clear picture and nicely centered. Great job at lighting. Please explain your concept here? jano
