overcast day must have accentuated the colors too. did you try toning down the "green" selectively in saturation? although now that i know the reason for the green being the way it is, it does not bother me much :) -Abstract
ps: Rod, Cat wished me for winning the last challenge under the "eligible" representative image.

The gate with the green background does look really good & you did well at that shutter speed. I tend to get the overexposed feeling looking at it though, if I crop off the path it works better for me in a high key type of way. I'm surprised you opened up one stop taking your exposure on the grass as grass is the closest reflectance to the 18% grey card that our meters are set up for. I've noticed that if I use an S shape with the curves tool it tends to give a similar look to the Velvia filter.
The other problem is I can't see the wishes Abs is thanking you for:-)
Nice shot anyhow mate:-)
I know what you mean. The image is as you see it. All I did was curves. The green WAS unnatural even to the naked eye. Most probably its a brand new turf from seeds. Will show you another shot of the green, if I get a chance. I had to do a +1 to get the exposure on the green correct, resulting in the blown pathway (which didn't matter to me much). This was under unusually cloudy conditions and the green is under a shade of a huge tree. I was shooting hand held at 70mm at 1/25s without stand :(

firstly, thanks for the wishes.
this is beautiful...red with green lawn background. green grass...aaahhh we have to wait for spring for that. btw the green looks unnaturally saturated and foreground pathway seems a bit blown. i am on my old computer so it might be my monitor though. -Abstract
