For this topic I think this works really well now Brent, much better definition. Well done mate:-)

I don't recall the original well enough to notice the difference, but it still works really nicely for me!

Thanks Christina and Jano. Funny how you think you have an image just right sometimes, only to go back to it and find a way to improve it. I just reworked this one and like it better now. Hope others will see more detail and texture in the wood now too :-)

The grain of the wood really pulls through here Brent. Possibly an extra bit of contrast but hard to say. Very nice. jano

I think the texture is quite nice. It looks really wooden to me. I also feel that I can feel the texture of the wood. It wouldn't be rough and sharp, but that soft ripply feeling of many years wearing down the wood grain. I think this works nicely.

Thanks Rod, I think you see what it really was here; a "weathered" totem pole. The most exposed areas are quite bleached out from years of sun and rain, and the grain is rather smooth really where angled light probably wouldn't bring out more texture. Maybe I should shoot it again when it is soaked with rain?

Yes the green is a nice touch but I think the textures are too subdued, with a more direct overhead or side lighting the textures would really enhance this shot. Maybe some more contrast or sharpening may help.

Thanks S&S :-) I rather liked the way the green moss on his left cheek tells you which way is north.

I like this a lot. I can almost feel the grain of the wood beneath my fingers. Very nice! ~Sharon
