There's nothing wrong with a border if you're framing a shot for the wall but on a back lit screen they look whiter than white, look how the snow looks grey in comparison with the border. The stark white border is no different than a blown highlight to me & I find them distracting. A much thinner border would have worked much better for me & slightly off white to make the snow look its proper colour.

I guess for me the white border does not distract from this photo, and I am not a fan of borders but if I was framing it I would use a white border. I may even vote for this photo because the border seemed to enhance it so. Maybe photos with borders should be banned so all are on an even playing field.

No need to be sorry Rich but I can't see the logic in you saying the border has anything to do with you liking this as a photo better than the previous shot. The wide border back lit on the monitor distracts & diminishes the impact of this shot for me but like you I still like it better than the previous shot.

Interesting, I like it much better than the one preceding (with no border) so I have to wonder if the border isn't making it work better, sorry Rod.

Beautiful shot Ann, but it's spoilt by the white border being so wide diminishing the subtle impact of the picy.
Forgot to mention - yes, the spots are snow. It was snowing to beat the band and I, Arvin and my brother Steve were out in it taking photos. I have a "rain coat" for my camera that I made from a cheap rainsuit pant leg. Works like a charm. :) Ann
Another beautiful shot, perhaps even better (if that can be) from the one before. I adore the spots (or is it falling snow?) on the lake. There seems to be a slight pink cast to the image. Did you mean for that? jano
