Long Shadows & Reflections

Pontoosuc Lake, Pittsfield, MA.

The long thin clouds seemed to accentuate the long shadows of the trees, both on the ground and in the water. This is the boat access to the main part of Pontoosuc Lake.

I like the composition, but the contrast does seem too harsh. It is a very tricky lighting situation, however.

The cloud formation seems to burst from the trees. Nice added touch of fall color too. Well done! jano

Nice composition but i find the contrast a tad too much and takes away from the scene.

Thank you all for your nice comments. I used a normal amount of processing on this photo. The lighting was very strong and coming from the left. I had to use my hand to add even more shielding than the lens shade provided. I also bracketed from +1 to -2 stops, just in case. I was pleasantly surprised with this outcome. I hope to process the other files when I have more time.

Beautiful image Henry. When I first looked at the trees I thought heavy processing, but the rest looks natural, so with a look around it just comes off as a very striking image. Nice work.

Wow, this place looks amazing. I like those clouds, they help the trees look like they're reaching up towards the sky. Maybe the flowers in the foreground here could be cloned out, they're a little bit distracting. But it's a great shot. /MisterMattias

This does look very good, wot a great scene. At first I thought it was too saturated but it just looks right as it is. Nicely done Henry:-)

Beautiful Henry! I like how the line of trees and water lead the eye toward the bright trees in the b/g and the lines in the clouds look really nice and do repeat the lines of the trunks and their reflection in the water. Very Nice! CJ
